Farming Partner springs surprise award presentation at clients Cheshire Farm

Last week, Richard Barnett had the honour of presenting the Dairy Industry Woman of Year Award to one of our very own clients, Karen Halton.
Karen was announced as the winner during the Women in Dairy (WID) conference held on September 30th. This year the ceremony was held virtually, preventing her from accepting the award physically on the day. This meant that on a rather grey and showery Autumn morning, Richard had the pleasure of surprising Karen at her weekly team meeting to present the award in person.
Richard said” Karen’s enthusiasm and passion for the industry sets her out as an outstanding ambassador for British Farming. Karen has helped the business achieve an excellent presence on social media with over 8,500 followers in total across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
“The farms technical performance has been recognised with a succession of awards in recent years which takes an enormous amount of hard work. Taking this into consideration, it is a testament to Karen that she still finds time to share her ideas with other farmers and regularly gives talks at events as well as offering her support to those in the industry who have fallen on tough times and she has supported Cheshire Agricultural Chaplaincy since 2013”.
After the award presentation Karen said “To be nominated for this award was a surprise and an honour, but to win it really was a total shock. My fellow nominees for the award are amazing women who promote the very best about dairy farming and I could not be any more delighted to receive this award from an industry that I am so devoted to. I am so lucky to have a fantastic team around me and without them I wouldn’t have the business that I have today. It’s a great feeling to know that the work I am doing is worthy of recognition and I hope that I can live up to my title!”
